Northern Vacation!

Kris and I have just returned from our 10 day journey 17 hrs north to Cape Vincent, NY which is located where the St. Lawrence river (seperates Canada and NY) meets Lake ontario. Bella was allowed to come with us, and we had quite a nice time. We visited with family and spent some quality time with his brother, and also I biked alot. ALOT. I'd like to formally appologize for only taking pictures of my bike routes and almost no pictures of family. What can I say: I'm obscessed.

The Rose's cabin is beautiful, cozy, and so clean you can eat off the floor, and right on the gorgeous water.

I biked every day for 10 days! Oh, the joy. I was completely spoiled by the gorgeous views, challenging terrain, and perfect weather! It never got above 80 degrees and it was GORGEOUS! (I wore my sweatshirt and sweater most nights and to bike a few times.)

There were WONDERFUL bike trails and real hills!

While visiting Kris's brother, we found out they are expecting a GIRL in January! Didnt get actual pictures of them, but I did get their house while biking! Not surprising though, I biked and took some of my favorite pictures! I ventured to a state park and found some mountain/beach/lake trails. I saw a bear, well actually heard a bear and saw its prints in the mountains. I also documented my accelerated heart rate as I got out of there as fast as possible while ringing my silly high pitched bell: ding ding! I was on one trail that went through the mountians, the beach, the cornfield, and ended at a lake! LOVED it!

While at Keith and Sharon's I biked on bike friendly roads with big hills and loads of country air (conjure the smell of manure, skunk, and cows.) I especially enjoyed actual bike lanes: even when they were covered in manure from manure spreading trucks (I encountered one of these as well arghh.) I made it to another state park, and saw a few trees that are already turning for fall.

I will now take you along with me on the longest and most scenic ride! It begins at the Rose Cabin and travels through a construction zone on the highway, along dairy farms and horse ranches, then along the deep blue St. Lawrence River to my favorite light house at Tibbets point: the very tip of the river and lake. Twice I ventured this long and gorgeous trail and was gone 3 hrs at a time: stopping in Cape Vincent to get coffee, hot chocolate, or a chocolate crossaint (I earned it by burning 3200 calories per ride!) and call Abbie and text my work buddies (there was no phone signal anywhere else.) I loved the old houses and scenic views contrasted with the country views to get there! Ahh, vacation!

So in summary:

Frolicked with Family. Biked. Swam. Walked with Bella and Sharon. Paddle Boated in circles hehehe. Napped with Bella. Watched the water. Took pictures while I biked. Relaxed!

It was great! God is good!
PS: Its really hot here in SC. Boo.

Wow, Liz! I can't begin to tell you how impressed I am w/your biking! And what gorgeous scenery you had to do it on. I could so move there on the river in one of those Southern-style homes.
The bear story was scary-my heart rate would have been way up there as well!
So glad you had a good time and 3200 calories burned in just one trip--wow! You go, girl!
