Another Post without Pictures!

I have recently learned that my camera (at Abbie's) has been exposed to the terrible flu/virus thats going around. Poor Jim, Sam, then Abbie had the worst bug, and I'm not allowed to go and get my camera. (no way could I stop over and not hold Sam) So I will have to just keep posting without any new pictures.
So, I've been given a new project! I was going absolutely stir crazy this week with nothing to plan, so I'm now full steam ahead into my new project: my mom's "playroom."
It's actually my old bedroom, but Mom and Laura call it the play room. It is so dirty, cluttered, dark, and filthy, that I avoid going in there now. The walls are in shambles, as they let me paint them at 10, and paint right over the Teen Beat posters...So mom finally gave me to go ahead to fix it! (She hates throwing anything away, and there is alot to throw away.)
Abbie's brother David is going to paint the ceiling light sky blue, then walls a bright pale yellow (Emily nursery color?) and white trim. The pale blue ceiling is supposed to mimic the sky and make the room feel larger. Of course the yellow walls are soothing and bright for my mom. They also are a great background for the many colors Laura wants in the room now, and will be great even later on if the room becomes a boy play area too!
I found all the additions to the room in my garage! I have a fun comforter with dress up clothes on it, and will use that as the inspiration for the whole room. The window wall will have dresses made into curtains and a purple canopy/drape over the bed. The long wall will have a clothes line for hanging pictures, dresses, and other fun stuff. There will be a full length mirror, a hat stand, shoes, and vanity make up area. In the hidden corner I'm going to put the messy Barbie stuff/house. Of course, as Laura wants to be an artist, there is a table and art area (my mom is an artist) as well, and I'm looking into chalkboard paint for a section of the wall or to paint the table with so they can draw on it!
The fabric and accent colors will be (per Laura) pink, purple, aqua, blue, yellow...luckily I have all these fabrics and was hoping to get rid of some before the move. I'm hoping to get inspired this weekend when I go to measure, declutter, clean, and prep the walls. Wish I had my camera for a before and after! We'll see, maybe I'll brave the flu, not sure. Poor Abbie.
I'm so thankful for this project, and can't wait to organize, rearrange, and declutter for my mom. I have no delusions that the room will stay clean, organized, or decluttered, but maybe for a little while? At least I'll do my part and finally move out all of my stuff from the overstuffed closet. My highschool and college stuff is in there, so that will create more space once I throw out all the clutter and move all the other stuff out.
Laura is very excited about the project, as we've been talking on the phone all week, she told Ruth she hated her room at home. Ruth said, "What are you talking about? When we moved in you told me you had the prettiest room in the house and were sorry I had an ugly room!" Laura said, "yeh, but now my room is so ugly and boring, can't I paint the walls!!!" hehehe. She is so much fun, and quite the little helper. She helped me sew the curtains for her room (purple of course) and I think will be even more helpful this time as she is 2 years older. I'm going to ask Ruth if she can stay the night at mom's with me for a slumber party...

SO thats all for now. I hate posting without pictures, so here's one of Bella (who's coming with me for moral support) Kris is looking forward to a quiet weekend with no estrogen or annoying planner/obsessive wife!

You will have so much fun on this project! Hmmm... you gave me an idea with your sky blue ceiling.
Sounds like Laura has some interior decorator in her! And learning to sew already!
It's great to see a room shape up...I know it will be beautiful when you're done!

And LOVE the ideas for a make-up vanity and a chalkboard paint table. The clothesline for hanging art or dresses...genius. Likewise the bed canopy and dresses-made-into-curtains. It's going to be every little girl's dream...you are such a good aunt!!
