Yipee!

As you may have guessed from the title, my interview with McLeod yesterday went great! I met with the wonderful staff at lunch, was taken around the entire hospital by an amazing therapist who I bonded with and can't wait to work with, I was interviewed by two of the directors, and then Human resources took me to the aquatic center for a tour and talk about benefits. Everything is a perfect fit: the therapists, weekends, time off, staff, opportunities for new program growth, I could go on and on!
So the next step is I have to pass the background test (normally I'd have a really funny sarcastic comment, but too happy) and they'll officially offer the job and salary. If the salary is comparable and they said it would be, WE'RE MOVING!

We've had 5 viewings of the house, with more scheduled, no offers yet (1 week on the market today) and have been keeping the house very organized and clean.

After my 5 hour interview (it didn't feel that long) we had a quick dinner with Jim and Abbie (Kris spent the day with them and had fun with Abbie and Sam) and then we were off to see houses with a realtor Abbie reccommended (Abbie went too)...he wan't so hot. He really didn't listen to us, and so after Jim gave him some venison for his trouble, we don't feel the need to work with him. He showed us a few neighborhoods, just driving (I use that term loosely) around and then stopped at a house that was all brick, almost finished, and let us look around with flashlights. We liked 90% of the house, then he said "What did you think about the price" we asked what the price was, and it was $359K...Kris was furious, which he displays as quiet for the rest of the night. He then took us to the only other house we toured, which was his listing and wasn't quite right for us: nice, but a little small. He had told us it had a fourth bedroom option in the back yard with a spacious out building: it was a tiny storage shed: I can just see my inlaws sleeping there in sleeping bags, feet and head touching walls...so we passed on that. Next he took us to a neighborhood where the houses were less than 5 feet apart, we didn't stop. Finally he drove/raced us home where Abbie and I jumped out the back seat and kissed the ground (we held hands in the back seat to keep from dying laughing/crying.)OH,and we got lost and he asked Kris for directions! Abbie was able to get us home.
So, my wonderful McLeod HR dept is setting us up with a realtor, we can work with. OH, I didn't tell you the best part! After showing us 4 neighborhoods and 3 houses (one ridicuously priced) he said our best bet was his listing b/c there were no other houses in our price range!!! I have internet shopped and had printed out 15 properties in only West Florence! I mentioned that I had found more, and he was astonished: what website do you use? and he didn't know about any of the FSBO houses, which was fine by me.
So anyway, you're all caught up now, and can wait with us on pins and needles for me to pass the background check, and the offer to come next week. I'll keep you posted on houses we're interested in, if we ever get to see them! We're hoping to return Saturday for a fun day of looking at houses IN OUR PRICERANGE!!

Lizzie,
Double yippee! So glad the interview went so well and that you feel so comfortable already w/your soon-to-be coworkers. How wonderful!!!
So sorry you had a lousy realtor-we had a similar experience when we were looking for houses-luckily we saw the FSBO sign for this house when we were driving around.
Why is it so hard for them to just listen and respond to your requests???

Well, hopefully the new realtor will be better. Can't wait to see pics of houses. Will be praying for y'all on selling yours and your future purchase!

Love you!

I'm so happy everything is working out perfectly for y'all! I can picture you and Abbie in the backseat cracking up (quietly, of course! :) )

Yay...everything seems to be working out great! I hope you can find a house soon. Honestly, realtors seem pretty superfluous anymore since the Internet. They never seem to know what you want (ours in Gville took us to dump after dump...opposite of yours...until we finally said we wanted something NICE...and Jeff actually found the house himself!!) They take a huge commission that's way out of proportion to their work! You're better off by yourself I think!
