New Years Party

This new years was especially exciting and fun. I threw a going away party for my inlaws and new years eve party at the same time. Bella wore her new jean jacket, and all went very well. I did have to work, but once I got home, I started the many appetizers on the menu: veggies, crab dip, crab stuffed mushrooms, mini-quiches, shrimp and grits in a pretty glass. For the sit down dinner, my friend Donna made a beautiful salad and I made Red Lobster biscuits (see recipe),

2 cups self-rising flour
8 tablespoons Butter Flavor Crisco
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Preheat oven to 450*.
Mix garlic salt, dry mustard and cayenne into flour. Cut in Crisco, until mixture resembles cornmeal. Fold in cheese. Add milk and mix gently. Drop by heaping tablespoonsful onto buttered cookie sheet. Brush tops with melted butter. 12-14 minMakes about 15

For a main dish, linguini and clam sauce with shrimp, and we ate dessert much later, Sharon made her famous mud sauce over ice cream. We played games including Scene it, Taboo, and cards. It was a very nice evening, and it made work the next day bearable. So now my inlaws are off to Florida until April.

Sounds DE-licious! Once again, you amaze me w/your cooking talents. And the games sound like fun too-I recently got an old Clue game off Ebay (I wanted one like I had growing up), and Will and I have played once. But oh what fun it was! Will said, "I can't believe how much you're enjoying this." I hadn't played since I was probably 15.

Oh, I can't tell you how excited I am about the Red Lobster Biscuit recipe. I LOVE their biscuits! Now, I can have some at home. Wonderful! Can't wait to try them out! Thank you!

I LOVE clue! When we first got married we found some games at a garage sale and we used to play Life all the time. Kris eventually moved to video games and I lost him to board games unless we have company. I recently got him to do a puzzle for a few minutes, and monopoly always causes arguments...
The biscuits are easy and good. I'll keep posting some recipes: I don't do anything too hard.

It sounds like you throw the BEST parties! They must be so much fun! I'll be trying out the biscuits, too...they sound so easy. Please keep posting recipes that you like.

I bought some Uno cards the other day at Target because we used to play all the time. I won the first game, but Danny won the next five :-( Karanena

So Karanena, do you remember: Green for Abbie? We still say it when we play Uno!!! So glad you liked the recipe: I'll post one a week if they turn out. I try to cook a new recipe a week.

I love the beach theme. You are so good at getting a theme and carrying it through the whole meal. I'm so impressed that you try a new recipe every week!
Bella is too cute in her jean jacket! Sounds like a great party.
And...you're free! he he
